Your Questions, Answered

  • Nordic Glamping at Botswicky is a small, off-grid, retreat set within organic farmland and ancient landscape in Wiltshire.

Our yurts are designed and built by us, drawing on Nordic craft traditions and using Norwegian oak alongside locally sourced ash. Each one is made with great care, using natural materials chosen for their durability and low environmental impact.

Set within a resting hay and wildflower meadow bordered by woodland, streams and nature reserves, the yurts offer space, privacy and a slower, more grounded way to stay.

Each one is carefully positioned across five acres of open meadow, with a further five acres of ancient woodland beyond, home to old oaks and a hidden bird hide.

  • Each yurt is spacious, warm and simply furnished, designed as a calm place to rest and switch off.

Inside you’ll find proper beds with quality linen, a wood-burning stove, and carefully chosen furnishings made from natural materials. The space is intentionally uncluttered, allowing you to settle in quickly and feel at ease.

  • Yes, Nordic Glamping at Botswicky is a fully off-grid glamping site.

There is no mains electricity or Wi-Fi but you will have solar lighting, handcrafted charging stations for handheld devices, hot and private showers, fresh running UV-filtered drinking water and access to a well-equipped shared kitchen as well as individual fire-pits and grill facilities.

There is also 4/5G coverage if needed, though many guests naturally disconnect during their stay.

  • The yurts are carefully spaced across five acres of wildflower meadow, with natural distance between each one.

This creates a quiet, open atmosphere where you can enjoy your own space without feeling overlooked or close to others.

  • Facilities here are kept simple, well cared for and designed to sit gently within the surrounding landscape.

You’ll find clean composting toilets, hot gas-powered showers, a covered shared kitchen and quiet outdoor seating areas; everything you need, without excess.

We’re gradually adding more natural shade across the meadow with sail coverings and recently introduced a cold-water plunge pool, soon to be paired with a wood burner to create a low-impact, wood-fired hot tub.

For larger retreats, we collaborate with trusted local partners to bring in additional elements such as wood-fired saunas and outdoor cooking setups, always chosen to complement the setting rather than compete with it.

Everything is maintained with care, so it feels comfortable and considered, while still allowing you to remain closely connected to the outdoors.

  • The site is fully off-grid and set within organically managed farmland, guided by the same principles championed by our land owner Helen Browning herself - working with the land rather than against it, supporting soil health, biodiversity and long-term balance.

We take a low-impact approach to everything we do, from the careful use of wood, water and materials - to the way the yurts are positioned within the meadow to protect and preserve the surrounding landscape.

During the winter months, when the site is closed and the land is resting, we spend time working within the local environment—planting hedgerows and trees to support wildlife, improve habitats and give something back to the wider landscape we’re part of.

We are also part of the Greener Camping Club, supporting environmental initiatives such as tree planting and conservation projects.
